Postcards from The Road

I'm hurtling through the ear popping mountain roads on a tour bus in a massive rainstorm. A little scared.
It's super spotty intermittent TV reception but still I'm picking up off and on some of the more exquisite moments of the Philadelphia Story. All time peak Hollywood.
Kate Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart. The best of all films but it's a total buzz kill with all this weather flooding the bus dish.
So, my thoughts wander back to this blog.
One thing I forgot to mention to you before is to pack one more important tool in your road Ninja kit.
If you are someone like me touring with a rock band you are obviously working nights. That makes you officially a night worker. The show job itself starts normally between 7 and 10 PM so waking up very early in the morning is not your best bet. No, but what about those pesky sun bolts finding their way directly into your eyes at the crack of dawn in that Sheridan or Ramada? All due to some other person who late at night desperately tried to close out the light? And who knows what condition that person who broke the curtains might have been in pulling them off the track ?(hopefully it was not you the last time you were there)
Either way a big hole remains at the top of the curtain tracks...
You can overlap the bottom of both curtains and try pushing chairs and tables in place trying to pin them against the wall however, the gap is too high to reach.
The blazing sun will have her way with you.
So here are two tried and true morning light blocking methods.
If you are a girl rocker like me then two or three
simple hair clamps are indispensable.
If you are a boy rocker then consider packing a few very large safety pins in advance. (Don't think the bar chick will have any extra clamps for you dude.)
However, if neither of these were packed then there is, of course, trusty old gaffers tape who always saves the day. Our hero.
One more thing on this topic.
It's super advisable to get the curtain situation under control BEFORE you crawl into bed!
